The Paediatric Heart Centre Utrecht is a key area within the WKZ/UMCU and specialises in surgical and catheter-based interventions for complex congenital heart defects in neonates. The centre’s outcomes are among the best in Europe, thanks to close collaboration among paediatric cardiologists, paediatric cardiac surgeons, anaesthesiologists, and intensivists. We also work in partnership with the Princess Máxima Centre for Paediatric Oncology and are part of the Dutch Network for Congenital Heart Defects. Furthermore, we maintain strong ties with regional partners and referring hospitals, including the Máxima Medical Centre in Veldhoven.
Our paediatric cardiology department consists of a dedicated and enthusiastic team of eight paediatric cardiologists and one trainee. The department includes several subspecialty areas and is equipped with a state-of-the-art catheterisation lab featuring advanced 3D imaging technology.
