We are looking for a technician to become part of our highly interdiscipliniary research group. Our work has a heavy focus on artificial intelligence and bioinformatics in clinical diagnostics. We develop computational tools, but we also apply them in clinical practice. Our research group therefore has a small molecular lab, where we perform DNA sequencing to generate data to validate our tools. Using this unique integration between wet-lab and dry-lab expertise, we have created a very open and varied environment with many different fields of expertise. We seek to strengthen our team with a primarily wet-lab technician to perform experiments, but with experience in bioinformatics (preferably R and/or Python programming and linux command line operations).
An important part of this role is to collaborate closely with the clinic to allow future implementation of our in-house developed methods. This does not only include streamlining and performing the wet-lab experiments, but for example also optimizing the way in which the results are reported to the clinic.
The Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM) focuses on understanding the molecular basis of disease. The Center is part of the Division Laboratories, Pharmacy and Biomedical Genetics of the UMC Utrecht and comprises the Sections Molecular Cancer Research, Cell Biology, Stem Cells and Genetics. Within the institute, multidisciplinary fundamental and translational research is performed in relation to various diseases, including cancer, chronic inflammatory and genetic disorders. The aim of the CMM is to train the next generation of biomedical scientists by performing internationally leading, fundamental biomedical research and by offering stimulating and excellent education.
