In an academic environment public-private collaboration is a catalyst that fuels valorisation and impact. Building a solid relationship with industrial partners is essential for the UMC Utrecht to accelerate the translation of groundbreaking science and innovations towards patient care.
As a Public-private partnership officer (PPP Officer), you will build and actively manage strategic collaborations between UMC Utrecht and industrial partners. Acting as the key interface, you will align the needs and expertise of researchers and companies to foster mutually beneficial partnerships. Your main responsibilities include:
Proactive account management to ensure effective and long-term collaborations.
Facilitating matchmaking between researchers and companies, including identifying funding opportunities in collaboration with the Funding & Support department.
Evaluating and optimizing ongoing collaborations to maximize synergy and impact.
Coordinating Health Holland TKI activities within UMC Utrecht.
Professionalizing research-industry partnerships by streamlining processes and developing supportive policies.
In addition, you will contribute to fostering a culture where valorization and innovation thrive, supporting projects aimed at maximizing the societal and economic impact of UMC Utrecht's research results.
You will join the Research Office, part of the Directorate for Policy & Strategy at UMC Utrecht. The Research Office provides strategic advice to the Board of Directors and researchers on key research topics, supporting grant applications and valorization efforts. Within this structure, you will work in the Networking domain, strengthening the Valorisation & Impact subteam. This team is committed to maximizing the societal and economic impact of research and innovations through hands-on support, training, and strategic collaboration.
The team operates in a dynamic and collaborative environment, characterized by a supportive and forward-thinking culture. You will be based at Utrecht Science Park, a hub for public-private partnerships. Flexible working, including remote work, is possible depending on your tasks.
We are looking for a connector and professional with the following qualifications:
Academic experience (e.g., PhD) combined with professional experience in a commercial setting.
Background in account management or business development, ideally in the life sciences or health sector.
Experience with public-private research projects is an advantage.
Knowledge of innovation processes, including IP rights and technology development.
A proactive, structured approach paired with excellent communication skills.
Fluent in English; Dutch proficiency at C1 level is strongly preferred.
